Project description

The Williamson County Landfill project marked a significant innovation in landfill management by retrofitting an existing site into a forced-aeration bioreactor landfill with advanced temperature feedback control.

Covering 6 acres with a depth of 40 feet, the project managed approximately 63,394 megagrams of waste and introduced over 4.8 million gallons of liquid to optimize biological activity and accelerate waste stabilization.

Operated actively since 2000, this project set new standards for integrating environmental controls into existing landfill structures, dramatically improving gas recovery, decomposition rates, and environmental performance.
